The musical path traveled by Samaël gives him this surprising musical and instrumental versatility. Watch for his growing rise towards recognition of his immense talent as a composer and guitarist, an emerging professional artist, worthy of the big stages. He is joined by two musicians, Jeremy and Sébastien, artists from Edmundston who are passionate about jazz and blues music.
The group has participated in various cultural events for more than 20 years. Under the direction of Dany Provencher, the various cohorts of Stage band in recent years have had several successes with numerous prizes in Canadian and American competitions.
Hightide Blues Band (Bathurst): Formed since 2018, this group of five musicians from the Bathurst region includes singer, Lyne Michaud, originally from Baker-Brook, and offers a sound with influences from the “Texas Blues” A group that is increasingly gaining ground on the blues scene in New Brunswick.
Brasil ’60: Around Jobim, Getz and Gilberto (Quebec): This trio’s show offers a show dedicated to the meeting of jazz and Brazilian music of the 60s. Juan Cruz (guitar), Alain Baril (saxophone) and Jean-Étienne Joubert (percussion) draw their repertoire from three emblematic figures of the style, pianist, singer and composer Antonio Carlos Jobim, saxophonist Stan Getz and composer Joao Gilberto. A step back in time, as if we were there…!
Mighty Nighters (Montreal): Mighty Nighters is a recently formed group of six musicians from the Montreal area that specializes in swing, rockabilly and rock’n’roll music of the 40s, 50s and 60s. The rhythm and the brass will be there. In their presence, it’s like being in the local parish hall for a Saturday night dance… swaying and no dancing guaranteed!
Janice and Gilles Picard, brother and sister, originally from Edmundston, make music together at every opportunity that arises. Their diversified repertoire, with an air of blues and old classics, was instilled in them from a very young age by following in the footsteps of their father, a well-known local singer, the late Mr. Aldéo Pichon Picard. “To be on stage together is always in honor of our father and the pleasure he would have to meet there with us. Tonight, we will present you some well-known old classics and this, as natural and simple as possible, with voice and guitar.
Overwound: (Fredericton) This trio is made up of three established musicians from the New Brunswick blues scene. Incidentally, the guitarist, Norm Couturier, is a native of Saint-Joseph-de-Madawaska whose family moved to Saint-Jean in his youth. Living in the provincial capital, he completes this group with bassist Tom Demerson and drummer Mark Patterson.
